WHAT IF WE WERE NOT SIMPLY POSITIONED IN ST. JOHN’S BUT WE WERE POSITIONED FOR ST. JOHN’S?

This September was an exciting launch into a new ministry season. As a part of our “Made for More” campaign, we wanted to find new ways to intentionally reach outside the walls of the church, into the city we love. This is where the vision of “For St. John’s” began for our church.

For St. John’s represents a couple of things: First, it reminds our church that we are called to reach our community and show the love of God to our city. Second, it helps shift the conversation from what people assume the church is against, to what the church is for. We are For St. John’s!

Imagine if all those who love this community, came together to give, serve and love it. Imagine if people seized opportunities to connect with and serve shoulder-to-shoulder with people they’ve never met before, and help meet the needs of organizations and community groups who do such a great job serving others all year long!

This Christmas, we’re inviting you – yes, you – to join with others to show our neighbours how much we care about them, our city, and we are FOR ST. JOHN’S!

FOR ST. JOHN’S CHRISTMAS PROJECTS

Single Parent Association of NL

Consider making Christmas extra special for a single-parent family this Christmas through our partnership with SPAN’s Christmas Project. If you, your family or your small group would like to sponsor a family, we will give you all the details you need. Or, if you would like to get involved by contributing an item or two, we will have a display board in the foyer for you to check out.

Cornerstone Christmas Supper Bowl

On December 15th we will be preparing to serve a ‘Turkey Dinner’ and provide a gift to those who avail of this important ministry in the downtown. Three ways to get involved: 1) Give $20 to sponsor a gift card, 2) Donate food items for the dinner; or 3) volunteer to serve at the event.

Young Adult Christmas Day Dinner

There are a number of Young Adults who remain in the city for Christmas without family. This year, there will be an opportunity to help provide a Christmas Dinner and a gift to those who would otherwise not have this experience.

THRIVE Choices for Youth

This organization supports our provinces most vulnerable youth. Many of which are suffering with mental illness and addictions, or affected by homelessness or sexual exploitation. There is a shortage and a need for personal care items which will support over 400 youth. To support this initiative, purchase items from the list below and drop them off at the donation bin in the church foyer, or at the church office.
